Honoring Black History

Edwina "Curlie" Justus, born in 1943, overcame racial and gender barriers to become the first African American woman locomotive engineer for Union Pacific Railroad in 1976. Despite facing discrimination and racial incidents, she excelled in her role, transporting various cargo for 22 years.
